taking a break or maybe i'm just done

I stopped working on it for length about a week ago. since then I've been working in the ends - sort of. Instead of sewing them back through the blanket I used the loose yarn ends to single crochet down the sides. it isn't perfect, but that was kind of the point. it is 'The Ugly' after all.


the last 8 rows on this end kind of defeated the point of being an ugly afghan. but then I wasn't really trying for the most hideous thing I've ever seen (just ugly)... if that were the case I wouldn't want to wrap up in the thing.


but it is warm and comfy and everyone on the couch can share it without any fighting.

the husband thinks I should go for a while longer and make it 10 x 7.5

New Pattern

I have finally gotten around to making the pattern for my Victorian feel necklace.
there is a large variety of what can be done with this necklace by way of what kind of picot edging you would like to add, but to get you started on making delicate loveliness for your neck, I have written out the basics and two picot options.

but I have got to try this.

individual pie in a jar!

I don't remember where I discovered this link but I had it bookmarked and then forgot about it. this morning I found it again and thought 'this is the greatest idea for christmas presents for grandma and our close family friends.

so I am going to give these a shot and then this fall when the best pie apples are in season I will make them for the Christmas presents and freeze them for the big day.

progressing

after a week of 6 rows a day on the ugly afghan the growth of it has slowed this last week. some kids had dentist appointments and it's kind of hard to lug The Ugly around now. plus I needed something else to do for a while. so two of my sons needed new hats. not really need but requested.
so I worked on those this week. one more R2D2 hat finished (heavily modified to work with hdc)

but I am determined this monster will not be forgotten. it will be completed... just not in two weeks like I had originally given myself.
a couple of things came up. 1st) I've found myself re-reading Harry Potter. I saw movie 7 a couple months ago and it has kind of lingered with me.
and 2nd) I had enough of my bathroom being atrocious and before I knew what I was doing I had ripped down the wall paper off of half of my bathroom.

funny how I can't stand the ugo bathroom but I am all keen to make the ugliest blanket on the face of the Earth.

"how awful can it be?" you ask.

wellit is now 7.5 x 3.5 feet
it's surprisingly warm and comfortable - and ugly so mission accomplished. okay not exactly accomplished since it isn't finished yet. but it is coming along as planned - mostly- so it's fulfilling it's requirements.

an unhappy customer

I had a customer today that was not happy. there was an issue with clarity, I guess (for lack of a better explanation)

that old saying comes to mind
"you can make some of the people happy all of the time, all of the people happy some of the time, but you can't make all of the people happy all of the time"

but that doesn't really help. I still feel sad about it.
